Members of FOWS have been busy tidying up the station’s appearance for our long-overdue summer.
An FOWS weeding party has removed the weeds, thistles, and grass that were taking over the open area of the platform around the steel planters – the pictures show what a difference this has made.
Both flower beds have received attention, with weeds removed and some new plants – primarily petunias and a holly – filling the gaps left by theft and dying plants (some dying off naturally, others killed by the acidic donations of passengers confusing the flower beds with a urinal).
Meanwhile the platform canopy repainting undertaken by Network Rail is continuing – it’s taking longer than expected but is shaping up to look very smart indeed when complete.
