Walkden “street champions” meeting

September 17, 2016

If, like FoWS, you hate litter but like tidying it up, you may be interested to know Salford’s neighbourhood team are looking to organise some litter picks / tidy ups in the area.

They have set up a meeting with the local Street Champions from Boothstown, Ellenbrook, Worsley, Walkden North and South and Little Hulton, and it will also offer opportunities to network and to look at priority areas for street cleaning etc.

The meeting takes place in Community Room 2 on 20th Sept from 6pm at Walkden Gateway and is open to anyone interested in getting involved.

Thank you for your support!

September 17, 2016

A huge “Thank you” to everyone who voted for FoWS in Salford’s recent Recycle & Reward poll … we are delighted to announce we topped the local vote and now have £1000 towards our station art project !

We have an pending application with Northern for a further £1000

Our plans propose laser cut steel panels on the stairway walls (the red areas below)

The panels will be created by Wigan artist Mark Mennell but the theme of the works is yet to be decided. When all the funding has been secured Mark and FoWS will arrange local workshops for the community and station users to feed into the design process.

Last chance to vote for us !

September 6, 2016
As previously reported we are trying to raise money to introduce an art scheme onto the station to improve the dismal condition of the entrance stairway.
We had a great response to our request for votes supporting us on Salford’s Recycle and Reward programme so a big “Thank You” to everyone who already helped.
If you haven’t voted yet please take a minute to vote for us following the link below- voting closes this Sunday (11th Sept)
Thank you from all at FoWS !
