FoWS are greatly saddened to read of the untimely passing of Marion Bainbridge, whom many passengers will fondly remember as our ticket office clerk from 2006 until her retirement in 2011. Marion’s bubbly personality, her customer-focused service, and the pride with which she ran the station made her a hugely popular personality at Walkden, and also at Eccles where she worked previously. Marion was also very supportive of FoWS as we established our group.
Everyone at FoWS extends our sincere condolences to Marion’s family.
Thanks to our small band of volunteers who gave up a couple of hours on Sunday morning to weed the planters and flower beds, and plant some new flowers to plug a few gaps where plants had died off or been damaged.
We also litter-picked the streets outside the station … although it was disappointing to see a fresh collection of sweet wrappers and crisp packets blowing down Park Road this evening 😦
Unfortunately Northern’s Andy Lowe and Paul Salveson are unable to attend our AGM tomorrow as planned due to other commitments.
Our guest speaker Karen Booth, plus Owain Roberts from Transport for Greater Manchester, Fay Flatt from Salford Council’s Neighbourhood Team, and the artist Mark Mennell are still attending.
We hope that you are too 🙂
A reminder that our AGM takes place this Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Legion Club on Wilfred Road.
We’re delighted to welcome special guests from Northern, Transport for Greater Manchester, Salford’s Neighbourhood team, and Worsley Civic Trust and there will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
Our FOWS AGM 2016 Agenda. Why not come along to find out more and help us improve our station !
