FOWS volunteers have been working today to install and plant up the final 4 planters in our beautification scheme for the station. In addition to the new planters volunteers also weeded the flower beds, the existing planters and troughs, and put in some summer bedding.

A specially-selected lilac was planted in one of the new planters in memory of FoWS member Michael Carney, a sadly missed member of FoWS who passed away last year.

First part of the job done ... 40 bags of aggregate and 4 steel planters carried up the 40+ steps to the platform !

Supported by Worsley & Boothstown and Little Hulton & Walkden Community Committee

Once again our thanks go to Salford City Council for the Community Committee funding which has made this scheme possible, and local supplies J. Hughes Engineering and Linnyshaw Garden Centre for their excellent quality products and generous free deliveries.

Our special thanks to the lads from J. Hughes who took pity on us and gave us a much appreciated helping hand moving the 40 bags of ballast and compost up the steps from street level to the platform !
