On the Raildar

September 21, 2013

There’s a useful free site for anyone interested in railway stats such as cancellations and performance ratings for each rail company, and even the live position of trains shown on a map (example below).

See Raildar.co.uk for more details.

  1. why is there no lift at walkden for the disabled, are there any plans to have one, it really needs one badly.

  2. Hi Robert

You’re quite right Walkden badly needs step-free access. Our understanding is that Transport For Greater Manchester have prioritised Walkden 4th in their list of stations to be provided with step free access. Preliminary plans for a lift have been prepared and costed (around £0.5m if I recall) but there is currently insufficient money in the relevant budget to commission the work. Are you aware that Northern Rail will provide free transport for disabled passengers to get to the nearest accessible station ? See http://www.northernrail.org/northern/passengerscharter/disabledcustomers for all the details.
