Bumper crowd for FOWS AGM

March 10, 2012

There was a record turn out for FOWS AGM this year with the bar of the Legion Club jam full of visitors.

Top of the bill was a fascinating talk from “The Railway Doctor” Paul Salveson who drew on his in depth experience as a railway employee, academic, historian, and Community Rail pioneer to discuss national rail policy,  community rail trends, regional rail plans, and thoughts on local issues and ideas specifically relevant to Walkden, amongst much else.

We were also delighted to see some new faces at the meeting and look forward to getting to know you better in the year ahead 🙂

Also very pleasing to once again receive the support of our very good friends from the station groups at Eccles, Patricroft and Hindley – a great bunch of people who’ve been an inspiration to us at FOWS !

The minutes will be published on this blog in due course.

Our regular meetings take place at 7.15pm in the Legion Club on Wilfred Street (M28 3AJ) every 2 months: the next one is May 2nd with the rest of the calendar to be published on the blog soon. If you couldn’t make the AGM, we do hope you will come along these.
