Rail fare rises capped at 6%

December 3, 2011

As you may have seen in the news this week, Chancellor George Osborne announced that the rail fare rises which come into force on Jan 1st  will be capped at 6% this year. Whilst that’s way above inflation the figure is actually rather better than it could have been – the Government’s plans to raise more funding through the farebox originally envisaged a monstrous 8% rise this year.

Passengers with expensive monthly or annual tickets are advised to consider renewing them at the end of this month to beat the price rise.
