Walkden gets tannoy boost

FOWS welcome GMPTE & Northern’s announcement of plans to jointly fund a new public address and improved ticket office communications system at the station.

The distance (and flight of 20-odd steps) between the ticket office and platform mean it’s currently very difficult for staff to relay real-time train information to passengers. FOWS are sure that passengers waiting on the platform and wondering if, or how long, their train is delayed will welcome updates from staff with the latest train-running and control information.

The ticket office communications system improvements will make it easier for passengers with hearing difficulties to book tickets – another very welcome development.
